OUR STORY
Liberty Vibe® was inspired by my daughter Maya, in a response to an experience she had in an acting class when she was 10 years old. Driving away from her first class, I asked if she’d had fun. When she started crying and said “No, I never want to go back,” I knew I had to talk to her right then, which then lead me to turn back around to look into it further.
Thankfully, the room had video cameras and I was able to see what happened to her. The police were called and the acting teacher was charged with lewd conduct. Luckily, nobody was physically harmed, but over time, further evidence surfaced from other young girls prior to Maya’s encounter.
BRAVERY IN SPEAKING UP
Before this experience, Maya was unaware of the power of her voice. Her bravery in speaking up and knowing she could confide in me, prevented this man from causing further harm to any other children. If she had remained silent, this behavior would have continued, and who knows how many children could of been in harms way.
We decided to turn this negative experience into something creative and powerful. Liberty Vibe® is a brand that encourages children to use their voices and speak up when they’re in a harmful environment. Children often don’t realize the power of their own voices, so we wanted to create way to empower them.
